Introduction

The Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. They include all the castes, races or tribes, which have been socially, economically and educationally backward. The committee has been established to support and to bring students from such communities in the main stream. The SC/ST committee of the college was constituted in year 2017 with the purpose to empower the SC/ST students in the college. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources.

Objectives

  1. To counsel and guide SC/ ST students and help them to manage academic and personal issues of college life effectively.
  2. To ensure provisions of an environment where all such students feel safe and secure.
  3. To provide the mechanism to redress the grievance of SC/ST students, if any.
  4. To arrange for special opportunities to enhance the carrier growth.
  5. To aware the SC/ST students regarding various scholarships program of State Govt. and UGC.
  6. To take such follow up measures to achieve the objectives and targets laid down by the Govt. of India and the UGC.
  7. To collect reports and information of State Govt. and UGC’s orders on various aspects of education, employment of SC/ST Students.
  8. To circulate State Govt. and UGC’s decisions about different scholarship programs.

Functions  

  1. To circulate Government of India and State Government decisions and to collect regularly, on an annual basis, information regarding course-wise admissions to candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Colleges for different courses.  
  2. To collect reports and information regarding the Government of India orders on the various aspects of education and training of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, for evolving new policies or modifying existing policy by the State Government.
  3. To deal with representations received from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates regarding their admission and other similar matters in Colleges.
  4. To function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the Grievances of SC/ST students and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.  
  5. Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these two communities suffering economic, social and education deprivations.
